Introduction
The Sports Module handles all aspects of school sports. Sports templates can be set up as the backdrop against which to create the various sports teams. Team members and coaches can then be assigned. Sports teams also have a timetable and calendar.

Sports
Set up the various team types. Typical examples are:
- Soccer
- Rugby
- Cricket
- Netball
- Chess
- Debating
Each sport has the following associated with it:
- Age groups – which age groups can take part in this sport (e.g. only age groups Under 13 and up can participate in rugby)
- Gender – which sex can participate (e.g. only boys can)
- Team Dimensions – the dimensions of the team (including reserves).
For example, Soccer might have the following dimensions:
Across: 5
Down: 6

Categories
Set up the sports categories. Sports categories are combinations of the following:
When a sport is selected, only the applicable age groups and genders (that where set up when the sport was first created) present themselves for selection. Sports categories therefore represent all the sports offered by your school.
Setup Teams
Finally, the sports teams themselves need to be set up. Sports teams consist of the following elements:
- Team name – The name of the team (e.g. Soc B13A).
- Description of team – An apt description of the team (e.g. Soccer boys under 13 A-team).
- Sport Category – The actual sport category (in this case Soccer – Boys Under 13). The structure of a soccer team (created when the sport was first created) is immediately shown once this is selected.
- Level – If the team is on a certain level, for example A, B, C, etc, then this can also be indicated.
- Schoolhouse – Further filtering can occur by selecting specific schoolhouses.
- Players – Based on the age group of the sport category selected (in this case, Under 13), all learners of that age group are brought into the Players list box for selection.
- Coaches – Coaches can be selected to coach the team.
- Timetable – A practice timetable can also be established at this stage (or later on when working with the team itself).
- Calendar – Team calendar events (such as matches against other schools) can be planned for at this stage (or later on when working with the team itself).
Working with Teams
If you are a coach or power user, you can go through to your team or teams. If you have more than one team, you must first select which team you want to work with, otherwise your one and only team will automatically be shown.
You can do the following with your team:
- Team Positions – You can change the position of the members within the team. Moving one player onto another will simply swap player positions. If you wish to add or drop team members, you need to go back to the Setup Teams screen.
- Match Results – Enter the results of matches played.
- Attendance – You can take attendance for practice sessions and other team events.
- Timetable – A practice timetable can also be set up (this could also have been done when the team itself was first created under the Setup Teams screen).
- Calendar – Team calendar events (such as matches against other schools) can be scheduled from time to time (initial scheduling could also have been done when the team itself was first created under the Setup Teams screen).
