Introduction
The Medical Module caters for the medical specifics of both learners and staff. Critical medical information can be entered, along with the details of the relevant emergency and medical aid companies and medical practitioners.

Medical Information
Medical information is no doubt priceless and of the utmost import, since it can literally save a person’s life! There are two types of information:
- Public Medical Information - Public medical information refers to any medical information that needs to be made public (e.g. allergies). All public information is accessible to every user (staff or learner) of TS School within the Medical Details screen.
- Confidential Medical Information - Confidential medical information refers to any medical information that needs to be kept confidential (e.g. HIV status). This medical information is typically only for the eyes of the school principal.
Medical Details
The Medical Details screen shows the following medical details for learners and staff:
- Emergency Company
- Medical Information
- Guardian / Next of Kin
- Spouse of Guardian / Spouse
- Doctor
- Medical Aid Company
Emergency Company
This section holds the details of the learner or staff member’s emergency company. They are:
- Emergency Co – The name of the emergency company (e.g. ABC Ambulance Services).
- Tel – The emergency company’s telephone number
Medical Information
This section holds the crucial public information (e.g. allergies) that everyone should know about.
Guardian / Next of Kin
This section holds the details of the learner’s guardian or staff member’s next of kin. They are:
- Name – Title, first name and surname
- Relationship – Relationship of Learner to guardian (e.g. son) or Next of Kin to staff member (e.g. sister)
- Contact Details – Work, home and cell numbers
Spouse of Guardian / Spouse
This section holds the details of the learner’s guardian’s spouse or staff member’s spouse. They are:
- Name – Title, first name and surname
- Relationship – Relationship of Spouse to guardian (e.g. wife) or Spouse to staff member (e.g. wife)
- Contact Details – Work, home and cell numbers
Doctor
This section holds the details of the learner or staff member’s doctor. They are:
- Name – Title, first name and surname
- Contact Details – Work and cell numbers
Medical Aid Company
This section holds the details of the learner or staff member’s medical aid company. They are:
- Name – The name of the medical aid company (e.g. ABC Health Care).
- Contact Details – The medical aid company’s telephone number.
- Medical Aid # - The person’s medical aid number.
Emergency Companies
Learners and staff alike share emergency companies. Before setting up learners and staff and indicating which emergency companies they belong to, these have to first be set up in the Emergency Companies screen. The following details are required:
- Name – The name of the emergency company (e.g. ABC Ambulance Services).
- Telephone Numbers – Telephone and fax
- Addresses – Street & postal
- Email Address - You can email directly to this address
Medical Aid Companies
Learners and staff alike share medical aid companies. Before setting up learners and staff and indicating which medical aid companies they belong to, these have to first be set up in the Medical Aid Companies screen. The following details are required:
- Name – The name of the medical aid company (e.g. ABC Health Care).
- Telephone Numbers – Telephone and fax
- Addresses – Street & postal
- Email Address - You can email directly to this address
Medical Practitioners
Learners and staff alike share medical practitioners (usually doctors). Before setting up learners and staff and indicating their doctors, the doctors themselves have to first be set up in the Medical Practitioners screen. The following details are required:
- Name – Title, first name, second name, surname
- Practice Description – E.g. General Practitioner
- Telephone Numbers – Telephone fax and cell
- Offices – The physical doctor’s rooms
- Addresses – Street & postal
- Email Address - You can email directly to this address
