Setting up Admin Classes

In order to work with admin classes, they first need to be set up. Use the Admin Classes screen for this. Admin classes have of the following elements:

  • Name - Give the admin class a unique name (e.g. 8A).
  • Description - Give the admin class an apt description (e.g. Admin class A of grade 8 learners).
  • Venue - Select the venue where the admin class is to gather for registration and other purposes.
  • Grade - Select the admin class’s grade.
  • Available Learners - All learners of a particular grade are displayed in the Available Learners list box for selection. They can be simply dragged and dropped into class seating positions. You can change the seating positions of your class members. Moving one learner onto another will simply swap the learners. If you wish to drop class members, simply drag the member back onto the Available Learners list box.
  • Class Administrator - A member of staff can be selected to administer the class. This same person is responsible for finalizing report cards.
  • Calendar - Calendar events, such as class outings can be planned for at this stage (or later on when working with the class itself).

Working with Admin Classes

If you are a class administrator user you can go through to your admin class. If you have more than one class, you must first select which class you want to work with, otherwise your one and only class will automatically be shown. You can do the following:

  • Seating Positions - You can change the seating positions of your class members. Moving one learner onto another will simply swap the learners. If you wish to add or drop class members, you need to go back to the Setup Admin Classes screen.
  • Finalize Report Cards - You can finalize the report cards of each individual learner.
  • Attendance - You can take attendance. This is usually done at the beginning and end of the day.
  • Calendar - Calendar events can be scheduled from time to time (initial scheduling could also have been done when the admin class itself was first created).
